Cleveland police: Man dead after shooting at Carnegie Avenue car wash

Police say the 40-year-old victim was shot nine times.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating the fatal shooting of a man at an east side car wash on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened at the Clean Express Auto Wash on Carnegie Avenue. Police say a 40-year-old man was shot nine times. Upon arriving at the scene, officers rendered aid to the victim until EMS arrived. He was taken to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 p.m. 

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the victim as David McCray of Brook Park. 

Clevland police say that preliminary information reveals that McCray was vacuuming his vehicle when two males got out of a sedan and began shooting at him. 

At this time, the shooting remains under investigation and no arrests have been made. 

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact 216-623-5464. Additionally, anonymous information can be provided by calling Crimestoppers at 216-25-CRIME. A reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
