Cleveland police: Man fatally shot on city's east side while helping driver push overheated car

The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Friday evening on the city's east side.

Officers responded to the 12000 block of Kinsman Road for a report of multiple shots fired at around 11 p.m. Soon after, police moved to the 3400 block of E. 121st Street and found a man down on the driveway. 

Officers rendered first aid until the arrival of EMS, who pronounced the victim dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

A preliminary investigation by homicide detectives reveals that a man reported his vehicle overheated in the area of E. 121 and Kinsman and began pushing his car. The victim was walking nearby and offered to help the the driver push the vehicle while he steered. Once they arrived in the 3400 block of E. 121, the driver reported hearing shots and ducked for cover before running inside of a house. Another adult came outside and found the victim down in the driveway. Bullets also struck a nearby home where the resident reported hearing bullets hit his house while he was watching TV.  He was not injured.
