Cleveland Police: 8-year-old girl shot on city's east side

Police say the child is in stable condition.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Police is investigating a shooting that injured an 8-year-old girl on Saturday evening. 

The incident took place near E. 139th Street and Harvard around 9:30 p.m. Police say the child was traveling in the rear seat of a car when it was fired upon. She was struck in the arm. 

The girl was transported to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital. Police say she was conscious and talking on the way to the hospital and is in stable condition. 

There is no information on the suspect at this time.
