Cleveland police searching for suspect following fatal hit-skip

CLEVELAND — Police are asking for the public's help finding both the suspect and a car involved in a fatal hit-skip on Cleveland's east side more than a week ago.

According to officials, a 79-year-old man was walking in a Superior Avenue crosswalk at East 99th Street on the afternoon of Jan. 3 when he was hit by a car that fled the area. The victim, whose name is not yet known, later died from his injures at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.

Neither the identity of the suspect nor the exact vehicle is known at this time, but the car is described as being "smaller" and dark blue with six or seven seashell or diamond-type shapes on the rear trunk deck.
