Detroit man dead following shooting in Cleveland's Corlett neighborhood; police searching for 2 suspects

Authorities say they have spoken with a 'person of interest' in this case, but no arrests have been made at this time.

CLEVELAND — One person is dead following a shooting that took place in Cleveland's Corlett neighborhood early Thursday morning.

Police say the man was shot outside a house on the 11700 block of Harvard Avenue, just across the street from the Harvard Avenue Performance Academy Medical School. Two women who were at the scene (including the homeowner) told officers the victim had arrived on a motorcycle around 2:30 a.m. before two men came from a neighboring yard and proceeded to beat him and shoot him multiple times. They also fired rounds into the women's car, but both women were uninjured.

The suspects, both wearing masks, fled the area in an SUV. The victim was taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, but died there from his injuries. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has since identified him as 43-year-old Detroit resident Darnae Bargimere, and noted he was shot in the head, body, and limbs.

Authorities say they have spoken with a "person of interest" in this case, but the suspects have not been explicitly identified and no arrests have been made at this time. Additionally, it is not known what make or color of vehicle the perpetrators may have been driving.

Anyone with information regarding the names or whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to immediately call the Cleveland Division of Police at (216) 623-5464. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stopper of Cuyahoga County at (216) 252-7463, with a cash reward of up to $5,000 potentially available.
