Elyria police looking for bank robbery suspect

ELYRIA, Ohio — The Elyria Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating the suspect who robbed the Northwest Bank on the morning of Saturday, Nov. 12.

At approximately 11:26 a.m., an unknown black male entered the bank, located at 105 Chestnut Commons Drive, demanding the clerks to provide him with money.

The suspect did not brandish a firearm during the robbery, however he did tell employees that he was armed during the incident. The clerks at Northwest Bank believed he had a gun on him according to the police report.

The male was wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt with white and red accent, dark track pants and a black mask during the robbery.

After the tellers gave him an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect fled the scene in an black SUV heading southbound towards Chestnut Ridge Road.

The make and model of the SUV is unknown at this time.
