CLEVELAND — A former police sergeant who served nearly 30 years with Cleveland's division has been sentenced to 10 days in jail after pleading guilty to soliciting prostitutes.

Michael Rybarczyk, 59, pleaded in Cleveland Municipal Court to five charges of solicitation last month in exchange for having six similar charges dropped. He apparently offered money in exchange for oral sex from various women outside the first district police building on West 130th Street. In addition to jail, he also received two years probation and will have to serve 200 hours of community service as well as attend counseling for sex addition and soliciting.

The guilty plea stems from a wide-ranging scandal that saw Rybarczyk also using city computers to message more than 2,300 woman on social media. He pleaded guilty more than a month ago in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court to separate charges of unauthorized use of property, receiving a suspended jail sentence and probation.

Rybarczyk was placed on restricted duty and later suspended when the original indictment came out. However, during sentencing in the computer case, he was also ordered to surrender his peace officer license, meaning he can never be a cop in the state of Ohio again.

Rybarczyk will not report to jail immediately, and the location where he will serve his sentence will be decided Sept. 5.
