Officials from the Springfield Local School District confirm two people were taken into custody following an incident at Friday night's home high school football game against Coventry.

According to Superintendent Shelley Monachino, Lakemore police officers who were on duty at the stadium were alerted that a minor had taken a gun into the stands. Both that person and another individual, both of whom were not Springfield students, were then apprehended. No one was hurt and there were no reports of shots fired.

"The safety of our students, families and visitors takes precedence over everything else," Monachino said in a statement posted to the Springfield district's Facebook page. "Our Lakemore police attend all home games, and we are extremely thankful for their diligence and quick actions."
