Teenager fatally shot while driving stolen car in Cleveland

A 16-year-old was fatally shot while driving a stolen vehicle in Cleveland on Tuesday.

CLEVELAND — A teenager driving a stolen car was fatally shot while driving in Cleveland on Tuesday night.

According to Cleveland Police, officers responded to West 88th Street and Almira for calls of shots fired. Upon arriving, officers found a teenager sitting in the driver's seat of a stolen Kia Optima with a gunshot wound to his head after the vehicle had crashed into a fence at 3468 West 88th Street.

The victim, who has been identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office as Amon Ogletree, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a preliminary investigation, the Ogletree was operating the vehicle in the area of West 88th Street and Silverton when someone outside of the vehicle fired shots, striking the Ogletree in the head. The victim proceeded to operate the vehicle before crashing into a fence.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 216-623-5464. Anonymous information can also be provided by calling Crimestoppers at 216-25-CRIME. A cash reward of up to $5,000 may be available.
