Man pleads not guilty to killing woman with her own car outside Cleveland church

Preston is accused of killing 33-year-old Lesley DeJesus outside Archwood United Church.

A man accused of hitting and killing a woman with her own car outside a Cleveland church pleaded not guilty to her death Wednesday.

Michael Preston, 23, pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery and felonious assault. His bond was previously set at $2 million.

Preston is accused of killing 33-year-old Lesley DeJesus outside Archwood United Church on Nov. 15.

DeJesus and her family were inside the church doing volunteer work when they saw two suspects inside their car. When they ran outside, Preston allegedly hit DeJesus with the stolen car. Her children were not injured.

Preston turned himself in to police late last month. A pretrial is scheduled to begin Dec. 17.
