BEDFORD, Ohio — Four days after a shooting took the life of a 23-year-old man in Bedford, the suspect in the case has turned himself in.

According to Bedford Deputy Chief Rick Suts, 22-year-old Trevon Claytor turned himself in to police on Monday, accompanied by his attorney. Claytor is expected to have his inital appearance in Bedford Municipal Court on Tuesday.

Suts says evidence recovered so far shows the victim and the suspect knew each other. "This was not a random crime," he said in a statement.

Police received several reports of "shots fired" just before 6 p.m. Thursday afternoon, and eventually found the victim lying in the street off of Palmetto Avenue.

Although officers attempted first aid, he died at the scene. The victim was later identified as 23-year-old Aaron Jerome Swift of Maple Heights.
