FAIRVIEW PARK -- Police are searching for a Cleveland man who was released on bond and immediately held a woman at knifepoint to steal her car.

Sean Vanderlin, 32, was arrested by Fairview Park police Wednesday for possession of a stolen vehicle. He was held in the city jail overnight and was released on bond Thursday afternoon after making a court appearance.

When he left the police station, police say Vanderlin walked eastbound on Lorain Road and encountered a 46-year-old Olmsted Township woman sitting in her car in a business parking lot.

Vanderlin allegedly brandished a box cutting utility knife and ordered the woman from her car. After a brief struggle, the woman exited the SUV and Vanderlin drove off with it. The victim was shaken but uninjured, police say.

A BOLO Alert was issued to area authorities and Cleveland police located the vehicle around 1:30 a.m. Friday, but Vanderlin fled on foot.

An aggravated robbery warrant for Vanderlin's arrest has been issued.

Vanderlin is described as being 5-foot-6 and 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Police say he is known to frequent the area of West Boulevard and Madison Avenue.

Vanderlin is also considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Vanderlin's location should call 440-333-1234.
