MANSFIELD, Ohio — A husband and wife have both been arrested in connection with what officials call an "appalling" case of child abuse.
According to Mansfield Police, a relative became "suspicious" after seeing injuries on the 7-year-old victim. A search warrant was obtained for a home on the 100 block of East 1st Street, and Joshua Henning and Tosha Martin-Henning were both taken into custody early Sunday morning after "certain evidence" was found at the scene.
Both suspects are currently in the Richland County Jail on charges of felonious assault, and authorities say Mr. Henning is also on probation after being convicted of a felony in a separate domestic violence case. The child is being cared for at a local hospital; exact details regarding their injuries are not known at this time.
Officials stress this is an ongoing investigation, and Richland County Children's Services is assisting in the matter. Anyone with more information regarding this case is asked to immediately call either Mansfield Det. Larry Schacherer at (419) 755-9766 or Det. J. Mark Perry at (419) 755-9730.
