MONTVILLE, Ohio — Police have released audio after a Montville man called 911 when he shot his girlfriend Sunday night.

The call was made by Shawn Guillereault from his garage, where he shot his girlfriend, Rachel Azbell.

"I shot her in the head, my girlfriend," he said. "...It was a disagreement and got out of control. She's in rough shape, please."

Guillereault could also be heard yelling "Fight!" at Azbell during the call. Azbell could at first be heard gasping for breath and moaning in the background of the call.

Guillereault told dispatch that there were kids in the home. Police later said the children, ages 15 and 12, were Guillereault's biological children. Another juvenile, Azbell's 17-year-old daughter, escaped the home and ran naked to a McDonald's to get help. She told police Guillereault had tried to sexually assault her after he shot her mom.

Despite opening the garage door for officers, Guillereault ignored orders to surrender and retreated into the home. He was still on the line when officers arrived, and can be heard yelling, "Shoot me!" before he ran inside.

A three-hour standoff followed, and SWAT officers set up a ladder to rescue the other children in the home. Officers were also able to remove Azbell from the garage to transport her to a local hospital.

When SWAT made entry to the home, they found Guillereault dead with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

The Medina County Coroner confirmed late Monday afternoon that Azbell died. She said Azbell's organs were being prepared for donation.

Police also released 911 audio from the McDonald's employee who called 911 as she rode with Azbell's daughter to the hospital.

"We were literally all leaving the store to like, just close, and we didn't know what to do, so we rushed her to the car because she's completely naked," the employee said.
