A 42-year-old woman is in jail on several charges, ranging from illegal entry to assault with the intent to commit murder.

Angela Marie Montney was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Her arrest comes 10 days after police were first called to her apartment on the report of a woman covered in blood outside of 188 Lincoln Street in Manistee.

Once on scene, police found Montney with multiple self-inflicted injuries from a sharp object.

While searching for a possible suspect inside the apartment, officers found her 8-month-old daughter who was covered in blood. She also sustained injuries from a sharp object.

Both were transported to West Shore Medical Center for treatment.

Montney remained in the hospital until her arrest. Her daughter was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released into the care of a foster parent system.

Montney was lodged in the Mason County Jail on the following charges:

  • Assault with the intent to commit murder
  • First degree child abuse
  • Third degree home invasion
  • Illegal entry
  • Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer

An arraignment date and time has not yet been set.

Police say additional details will not be released as it is an ongoing investigation.
