PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Authorities say there is no immediate threat to Riverside Local Schools after “concerning comments” were found on social media Wednesday morning.

According to school officials, it appears those statements came from a former student.

“Our School Resource Officer and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office were immediately notified of the post and have been in contact with the individual who is believed to live out of state,” according to a press release.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor the situation.

“As always, student safety is our top priority,” school officials say. “Threats or other activity designed to deliberately disrupt the education environment will be cause for criminal charges and / or school discipline.”

It's unclear what the "concerning comments" were about.
