WESTLAKE, Ohio — A 27-year-old Cleveland man is in custody on Friday night after an attempted robbery turned into a foot pursuit at Crocker Park in Westlake.
Captain Gerald Vogel of the Westlake Police Department reports that the suspect committed a theft at the Apple Store. He then got inside his vehicle and rammed one of the department's cruisers before attempting to flee the area on foot.
Officers were able to catch and arrest the suspect, however he may have dumped a firearm before being captured. Vogel says police are conducting a search of the area to locate the gun.
No injuries were reported at the scene, however the suspect may have had a seizure and he is being examined at an area hospital.
