Several staff members at Rocky River High School placed on leave after reports they discussed student in 'inappropriate manner'

The staff members' identities have not yet been released.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — Several staff members from Rocky River High School have been placed on administrative leave Thursday, after the school district says it was made aware that they discussed a student in a "inappropriate manner."

Parents and guardians within the Rocky River School District were told of the incident in a letter from Superintendent Michael Shoaf.

According to Shoaf, once aware of the situation, an investigation was set in motion and as a result, the alleged involved staff members were placed on administrative leave until the investigation is concluded.

"We are committed to providing the highest quality of education for our students in an environment that is safe, secure and free of harassment. Our students’ well-being is our top priority," the letter read.

A school spokesman confirmed to 3News late Thursday afternoon that the nature of the incident has also triggered a police investigation. In a statement, the Rocky River Police Department tells 3News that the Rocky River School District is cooperating with police in the very early stages of determining if any criminal offenses occurred.

The identities of the staff members involved have not yet been released.

UPDATE: On Friday, Superintendent Michael Shoaf and Assistant Superintendent Liz Anderson provided the below statement. You can watch in the player below.
