Shots fired at large Airbnb party in Willoughby Hills; 10 arrested

The gathering would seemingly be a direct violation of Ohio's stay-at-home order.

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio — Ten people have been taken into custody after police were forced to break up a large party in Willoughby Hills early Saturday morning.

Authorities say officers were called to the 36900 block of Beech Hills Drive around 2 a.m. after someone heard gunshots being fired. Officials on scene apparently saw "several" cars speeding away from the area, and a "large number" of people were running around in the yard.

Investigators learned the house was being rented as an Airbnb and that someone got out of a car and fired numerous shots in the air after a fight broke out. No one was injured, but the following people were taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct (all from Cleveland, unless otherwise noted):

  • Daijha Truett, 23
  • Sade Jackson, 26
  • Joann Cleveland, 23
  • Joseph Dunn, 30 (Bedford)
  • Ronnie Johnson Jr., 29
  • Dimitri Roston, 24
  • Reuben Lee, 35
  • Dacari Williams, 25
  • Deandre Agee, 27
  • Jesse Anderson, 27

Although no mention of it was made in the statements given by the police force, the gathering would appear to be a direct violation of Gov. Mike DeWine's stay-at-home order during the coronavirus pandemic. It is not known how many people were at the party, but both DeWine and Ohio Department of Health Director Amy Acton have banned such gatherings of more than 50 and strongly cautioned against those larger than 10.

First responders from across Lake County assisted Willoughby Hills officers at the scene. Additional charged could be pending, according to police.
