A man accused of striking and killing two people in an Akron hit-skip crash last December has turned himself in.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 26-year-old De Romeo Rice was driving a 2018 Dodge Charger east on Lindsay Ave. around 2:28 a.m. on Dec. 30 when he ran a stop sign at Virginia Ave. and crashed into a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Both the driver—34-year-old Nicholas Bobo Jr.—and passanger—28-year-old Arielle Davis—of the Impala were ejected from the vehicle.

Bobo was pronounced dead at the scene, while Davis later died at Akron City Hospital. Officials initially identified 26-year-old Aiysha Williams as the driver of the Charger that caused the crash, but have since changed that report and named Rice as the suspect. Rice is alleged to have fled the scene.

Rice has been charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident. He is currently in the Summit County Jail.
