Two suspects are in custody after a traffic stop in Euclid turned into a car chase that ended with a crash in Willowick on Friday night.
Just before 9:00 p.m., a Euclid police officer was conducting a traffic stop in the parking lot of a shopping center on 22808 Lakeshore Blvd. When the officer opened the passenger door to speak to the occupants in the car, the driver put the car in gear and fled, knocking the officer to the ground.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
Willowick Police monitored the incident and pursued the car, which crashed at E. 305th near the entrance to Route 2. The crash happened approximately seven minutes after the suspects fled from Euclid.
Two suspects were taken into custody. No Willowick police officers were injured.
