U.S. Marshals on Wednesday arrested a Tennessee man in Ashtabula County who is accused of sexually assaulting a child back in his home state.

Geoffrey Arnold, 43, is believed to have raped a Dyer County, Tennessee child under the age of 13 "over a significant period of time." A warrant was issued for his arrest on Oct. 1, and shortly thereafter authorities discovered he was hiding out in Northeast Ohio.

Arnold was taken into custody without incident on the 3500 block of Adams Road in Kingsville after officers conducted surveillance on the suspect's vehicle. He is currently in the hands of local officials and is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee.

"Without the great working relationship we have with our local partners, criminals such as Arnold may be on the run longer," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot said in a statement. "A case such as this shows the investigative reach of the U.S. Marshals Service and it partners."
