CLEVELAND — U.S. Marshals on Thursday announced the capture of a fugitive who was wanted on felonious assault charges.

Tyshawn Weems, 20, was wanted for an altercation that occurred outside an apartment in the 6400 block of Scovill Avenue in December 2019. Weems is accused of brandishing a gun and shooting at another male.

Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force found Weems hiding in a dryer in the basement of a Scovill Avenue apartment Thursday.

"Today was an example of the extreme lengths fugitives will go to avoid being arrested. Our task force officers are highly trained and experienced and today they used that experience to find a fugitive hiding in a closed dryer," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a news release.
