U.S. Marshals capture Cleveland homicide suspect in California

Cory Moorer is accused of beating a man to death on Cleveland's east side back in August

Richmond, CA – U.S. Marshals in Northern California have apprehended a suspect wanted in a homicide that took place in Cleveland in August.

On Aug. 18, 40-year-old Cory Moorer allegedly confronted 33-year-old Ricky Williams at a residence near E. 85th Street and Superior Ave and beat Williams to death.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force developed information that Moorer had fled the state and was hiding out in California.

On Thursday, members of the US Marshals in the San Francisco area tracked down Moorer in Richmond, California and arrested him after he attempted to flee a residence by vehicle.

“No fugitive can outrun the reach of the Marshals Service. If they run, we will find them, whether it is in another state or out of the country. Our counterparts in the San Francisco area did exceptional work to track down and then safely arrest this dangerous fugitive," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.
