CLEVELAND — A woman who was 24 weeks pregnant has lost her unborn baby girl after being shot on Cleveland's east side early Friday morning.

Police say the 19-year-old had been attending a vigil for a homicide victim near East 110th Street and Crestwood Avenue and later went to her car to talk with a friend. Around 1 a.m., another vehicle approached and multiple gunshots rang out from it, striking the woman in her stomach.

The teen was pulled from her vehicle and rushed to the Cleveland Clinic before being transferred to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She remains there at this time, but the unborn infant did not survive.

Detectives found roughly 20 bullet marks on the woman's vehicle, but no suspects have been identified at this time. The incident was one of 11 shootings that took place over a roughly 11-hour period during Thursday and Friday, with the child being the first fatality.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or the others that occurred that day is asked to call the Cleveland Division of Police at (216) 621-1234.
