Case Western Reserve University named Ohio's best in list of top colleges and universities

It's the second year in a row that Case has topped Wallethub's Best Colleges and Universities in Ohio ranking.

CLEVELAND — Just in time for the first “early decision” college-application deadline coming up on November 1, WalletHub has released its 2021’s Best College & University Rankings report. And for the second year in a row, the top spot in Ohio belongs to Cleveland's Case Western Reserve University.

WalletHub compared over 1,000 higher-education institutions in the U.S. based on 30 key measures grouped into seven categories, such as Student Selectivity, Cost & Financing and Career Outcomes. The data set ranges from student-faculty ratio to graduation rate to post-attendance median salary.

Here are the top 10 colleges and universities in Ohio:

  1. Case Western Reserve University    
  2. Kenyon College
  3. Ohio State University-Columbus
  4. Oberlin College
  5. The College of Wooster
  6. Kenyon College
  7. Ohio Northern University
  8. Cedarville University
  9. Walsh University
  10. Marietta College

Taking a closer look at the data, Case Western Reserve ranked first in Ohio in Admission Rate, first in Gender & Racial Diversity, and first in Post-Attendance Median Salary. 

Case Western Reserve University also ranked No. 50 among the nation's top colleges and universities. Here were the top 5 in that ranking:

  1. Harvard University
  2. Yale University
  3. Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  4. Princeton University
  5. California Institute of Technology
