Cleveland Foundation announces record-breaking grant to Say Yes to Education Cleveland

Say Yes Cleveland's scholarship fundraising committee has raised nearly $92 million in contributions and pledges to date.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Foundation on Monday announced its largest ever grant, a sum of $40 million to the Say Yes to Education Cleveland scholarship fund.

The grant is four times the amount of the foundation's previous largest grant, and will not impact the foundation's annual grantmaking capacity in support of local nonprofit organizations.

Say Yes Cleveland's scholarship fundraising committee has raised nearly $92 million in contributions and pledges to date, keeping the program on track to reach its $125 million fundraising goal in the next several years.

“Say Yes to Education is an unprecedented investment in the potential of our youngest residents,” said Ronn Richard, President and CEO to the Cleveland Foundation. “This multi-generational undertaking has inspired many in the community, including our foundation, to make historic contributions to this game-changing effort because we believe in the transformative power of a quality education. For the next 25 years, Cleveland students will have the chance to realize their greatest dreams, shattering barriers that stand in their way to achieving personal success while also propelling our community to extraordinary heights. The people of Cleveland are our greatest asset. We encourage others to join us in saying ‘yes’ to our students because our shared future depends on the commitments we make today.”
