The announcement came ahead of a press conference Tuesday morning in which Dr. Morgan was formally introduced.

Morgan was selected after a nearly eight-month search for a new CEO following Eric Gordon's announcement in September that he would be stepping down at the end of June.

On April 20, the Cleveland Board of Education announced that they had narrowed down their candidates to Dr. Ricardo "Rocky" Torres and Dr. Warren Morgan. You can learn more about both candidates HERE.

On Sunday, the Cleveland Metropolitan School District sent members of the CSMD community a letter as well with the news.

"We are grateful for the resounding support and participation of the CMSD community in our CEO Search process. Through interview panels, community meetings, and online surveys, community input has been vital for the selection of the next CEO to lead the Cleveland Metropolitan School District," said school officials in a letter to the CMSD community.

"Last week, we completed our interviews with both CEO finalists and reviewed the comprehensive feedback provided by constituents across our school community, including: students, parents, residents and supporters of CMSD; district leadership, educators, school administrators and classified staff; union leaders and partners; and community, non-profit, business, philanthropic, and faith leaders."
