The fall semester will begin as scheduled on Aug. 24.

ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio University announced Friday it will take a multi-phased approach to reopen its main campus, leaving the majority of students to take their classes online in the fall.

The fall semester will begin as scheduled on Aug. 24.

Courses at the university’s regional campuses, which do not offer on-campus housing, will begin under a hybrid system with face-to-face instruction only for clinical, practica, or lab-based classes.

Undergraduate students at all Ohio University campuses will have the option to take all of their fall semester classes online.

In a letter to students and staff, Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis said that recognizing the changing situation around the coronavirus pandemic, the university determined that the health of students, faculty, staff and communities was best supported by a phased return.
