Report: Among teachers, Ohio educators fourth-highest paid in country

The WalletHub study ranked Ohio as the 10th best state overall for teachers across the country on 22 different subjects from teachers' income growth potential to pupil-teacher ratio and teacher safety.

Compared to other states, Ohio ranks high in a report from the personal finance website WalletHub on the best state for teachers.

The study ranked Ohio as the 10th best state for teachers across the country on 22 different subjects from teachers’ income growth potential to pupil-teacher ratio and teacher safety.

The report ranks Ohio high for average salary for teachers adjusted for the cost of living (4th) and in the middle of the pack on average starting salary for teachers adjusted for cost of living (21st), teachers' income growth potential (26th), quality of school system (27th), teacher safety (28th) and public-school spending per student (32nd).

Overall, Kentucky ranked 18th and Indiana finished 36th. Notably, Indiana finished at the bottom of the list for public-school spending per student and near the bottom for highest projected teacher turnover.
