Revere Local Schools to resume classes Tuesday after online threat contained photo with weapons

'Police are taking this threat seriously.'

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — The Revere Local School District will resume all classes Tuesday after Monday classes were canceled following “an online threat to student safety and security.”

Bath Township police and school officials say an Instagram post mentioned the district and showed several weapons. The photo was determined to have airsoft and pellet guns.

Police say they have talked with those involved and are working with the Summit County Prosecutor's Juvenile Division.

“We want to thank the police departments of Bath Township, Richfield, Copley and Akron, who all assisted the district with making sure there was not a threat to our students and staff” said Revere Superintendent Matthew Montgomery.  “We also want to thank those students and parents who followed the See Something, Say Something protocol and called the Safe Schools Helpline.”

The district will make counselors available for the next two days.

“Police are taking this threat seriously,” school officials posted on Facebook. “If anyone has any tips, they are encouraged to call Bath Police at 330-666-3736.”

“Thank you for your understanding as Revere continues to put the safety of our students first."
