Snow day: Many schools closed Tuesday with snow-packed side streets after Monday's winter storm hits Northeast Ohio

Our iAlert system is filled with school closings as communities continue digging out from the winter storm.

CLEVELAND — Students throughout Northeast Ohio are getting another day off as hundreds of schools are closed Tuesday while cleanup efforts continue following Monday’s winter storm. Although the main roadways are clear, the school closures come as many side streets and sidewalks remain snow-packed.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District is among those closed Tuesday “due to inclement weather.” There’s no remote learning either.

3News' Jasmine Monroe explored conditions on the side streets early Tuesday morning, reporting from West 116th Street and Belmont Avenue in Cleveland.

“This road was totally snow-covered," Monroe said during her 5 a.m. report. "As soon as I pulled up, the snow plow truck was coming down.”
