Kent State University held its annual spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, and among the graduates was a very special guest.
New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman walked across the stage to officially receive his bachelor's degree in integrated studies. Edelman had tweeted earlier in the week his desire to "set a great example for my daughter, and complete a promise I made to my parents over 10 years ago."
On Saturday, Edelman posted a photo of himself dressed in cap and gown with his parents, complete with the caption, "We did it!"
After transferring to KSU in 2006 from the College of San Mateo in his native California, Edelman started for three years as the Golden Flashes quarterback before being selected in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL draft. He has since become one of New England legend Tom Brady's most reliable targets, and has played a key role on three Super Bowl championship teams.
