Algal bloom found at two Cleveland-area beaches

Lake Erie's algal bloom has reached Edgewater and Villa Angela beaches

If you're heading to the beach to keep cool this weekend, beware of what's in the water.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) says Lake Erie's algal bloom has reached Edgewater and Villa Angela beaches -- its nowCAST shows advisories at both beaches for potentially unsafe levels of bacteria.

Algal blooms are colonies of algae that grow out of control, and can be harmful or even toxic.

You may remember what it did to Toledo's water supply, shutting it off entirely in 2014.
