CLEVELAND — Personal protective equipment (PPE) has been in very short supply, not only in parts of Northeast Ohio, but around our country.
Thankfully, a high school alumni group from halfway around the world in Hubei Province, China, is sending 10,000 KN95 masks and surgical masks to University Hospitals.
The plan to send the masks to University Hospitals was aided by Zhiwu Gui. Zhiwu, who lives in Solon now, grew up in Hubei Province. Her high school, Huanggang High School, has an alumni association based here in the United States for graduates who now live in America. The city of Huanggang was the second hardest hit city by the COVID-19 coronavirus in China, behind Wuhan.
The Huanggang High School Overseas Alumni Association wanted to do something to help Americans. Gui’s husband is a radiation physicist at University Hosptial’s Geauga Medical Center. With Gui’s help, the alumni group donated 10,000 KN95 masks and surgical masks to University Hospitals.
