Cleveland RTA confirms 13 new cases of COVID-19 among employees this week

To date, 66 employees have tested positive for the virus with 46 making full recoveries and returning to work.

CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from a story published on November 19, 2020, in which Ohio Governor Mike DeWine addressed the exponential rise of COVID-19 cases in the state.

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority reports that 13 additional employees have tested positive for COVID-19. 

In a press release, the RTA said the positive cases are from the Hayden, Triskett and Rail districts, as well as one Transit Police Dispatch officer.

From the Hayden District, seven bus operators and two managers/supervisors have tested positive. In the Triskett District, two bus operators have the virus. One rail instructor from the Rail District has tested positive, as well.

The RTA says all work areas and equipment have been disinfected and those who were in contact with them were notified. To date, 66 employees have tested positive for Covid-19, and 46 of those have recovered and returned to work. 

This marks the highest reported spike in cases among RTA employees since the pandemic began.
