Cleveland comic book shop receives praise from Gov. Mike DeWine for safety measures

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine had high praise for the safety measures Carol & John's Comic Shop in Cleveland took in reopening on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, retail stores in Ohio were permitted to reopen their doors.

It didn't take long for one Cleveland business to receive praise for the precautions it has taken, with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine citing Carol & John's Comic Shop as an example of a business that is reopening safely amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic during his daily press briefing on Tuesday.

Among the measures taken by the business, which is located at 17462 Lorain Ave. in Kamm's Plaza are a hand sanitization station, custom sewn Marvel masks for the high risk and a glass barrier at the register. It will also allow an occupancy of 15 customers, plus staff, at a time.

As of Tuesday, Ohio has 25,250 confirmed and probable positive coronavirus cases, including 4,539 hospitalizations, 1,232 ICU admissions and 1,436 deaths. Dating back to the discovery of the state's first coronavirus case, DeWine put a number of measures in place to encourage physical distancing, including a stay-at-home order on March 23.

Earlier this month, Ohio began the process of reopening its economy, with retail stores reopening on Tuesday, May 12, and personal services, bars and restaurants outdoor dining set to reopen on Friday, May 15. Indoor dining at bars and restaurants will be permitted beginning on May 21.
