Eighth RTA employee tests positive for COVID-19

CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority confirmed Monday that an eighth employee has tested positive for the coronavirus(COVID-19).

The employee is a bus operator stationed at the Triskett District. The employee last worked on Friday, April 24 and called off sick the following day with COVID-19 symptoms. 

Since the diagnosis, the bus last operated by the employee has been cleaned and disinfected. Staff members who may have been in contact with the employee have been notified. 

As of Sunday, May 3, the Cleveland Department of Health reports there are 770 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 34 related deaths. Cleveland's first case was confirmed on March 14.
