DETROIT — A recent survey of 1,000 frontline workers shows that nearly 80% still do not have access to the proper personal protective equipment. Ford is doing what they can to change that.
Through 3D printing and top of the line manufacturing, Ford has been able to print off one face shield every 10 seconds, according to a company representative.
A statement released by the company on Thursday says “The face shields fully block the face and eyes from accidental contact with liquids and when paired with N95 respirators can be a more effective way to limit potential exposure to coronavirus than N95 respirators alone.”
Ford is also using their advanced manufacturing center in Michigan to manufacture components for PPE quickly.
In addition to the face shields, Ford is also making masks, gowns, respirators and ventilators.
