Gov. Mike DeWine asks Ohio State Dental Board to make sweeping changes amid Coronavirus pandemic

Find out below if it is recommended that you reschedule your dental procedure

CLEVELAND — You may need to reconsider that dentist appointment you have scheduled.

Gov. Mike Dewine has officially reached out to the Ohio State Dental Board (OSDB) to ask that certain procedures and appointments be postponed due to the coronavirus.

Included in the list of 'elective procedures' are: 'any cosmetic or aesthetic procedures, such as veneers, teeth bleaching, or cosmetic bonding,' 'all routine hygiene appointments,' and 'any orthodontic procedures not including those that relieve pain and infection or restore oral function or are trauma-related.'

DeWine also recommended a list of precautions that those in the dental industry consider taking over the next few weeks. The list includes 'using cell phones and pictures to communicate with the patients,' 'taking the temperature of the patient at the outset,' and 'use of 1% hydrogen peroxide rinse prior to examination.'
