CLEVELAND — MetroHealth will soon have a serology test available to check for COVID-19 antibodies in the blood of those working on the front lines.
3News Senior Health Correspondent Monica Robins has learned the hospital hopes to begin using the test as early as Monday. It will be used first on those known to have the virus and then on those healthcare workers on the high risk front lines caring for coronavirus patients.
The FDA-approved test can be used to determine who has been exposed to the virus by looking at their immune response. It will also help better identify those who were asymptomatic.
Metro also plans to do a clinical trial with the test as well.
