Pair of Northeast Ohio bars receive suspension of liquor licenses for violating state's COVID-19 protocols

Floods Urban Seafood Lounge in Warrensville Heights was given a 120-day suspension beginning in April.

The Ohio Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) has announced its latest series of punishments for state establishments that violated COVID-19 protocols. Two of the restaurant/bars that were brought before hearings and punished were from Northeast Ohio.

According to OLCC documents, Floods Urban Seafood Lounge in Warrensville Heights was found in violation of the state's disorderly activities rule on three separate occasions in 2020: July 24, July 31, and December 14.

For the July 24 violation, the OLCC issued a 10-day suspension beginning at noon, March 22, 2021, with the option to pay a financial forfeiture in the amount of $1,000 in lieu of serving the suspension. For the July 31 violation, a 15-day suspension beginning at noon, April 1, 2021 was issued with the option to pay a financial forfeiture in the amount of $3,000.

The OLCC issued a 120-day suspension to Floods beginning at noon, April 16, 2021, for the December 14 violation. There is no option to pay a financial foreiture for that violation.

Meanwhile, The Velvet Dog in Cleveland went before the OLCC for two violations that occurred in December of 2020. For a disorderly violation on December 12, the OLCC handed down a 5-day suspension beginning at noon, March 22, 2021, with the option to pay a financial forfeiture in the amount of $1,000 in lieu of serving the suspension. 

A second disorderly violation on December 31 resulted in the OLCC issuing a 10-day suspension beginning at noon, March 27, 2021. The Velvet Dog will have the option to pay a financial forfeiture in the amount of $2,000 in lieu of serving the suspension.
