PARMA, Ohio — A Parma elementary school staff member has tested positive for coronovirus (COVID-19).

The staff member, an employee at John Muir, is reportedly " resting and recuperating, and is self-quarantined at home" the district said in a Facebook post Wednesday evening.

Officials with the district say the Cuyahoga County Board of Health is aware of the case and will be reaching out with any necessary case specific guidance.

However, they also warn that given the nature of the disease, this may not be the only case.

"This unfortunately may not be our only case, as community spread is a growing issue in our area due to the nature of COVID-19"the statement read.

The district says they have contacted a specialized cleaning business to work in collaboration with the current staff to clean the school as soon as possible.

As of Wednesday, 88 positive cases of the coronavirus has been found in Ohio, 26 of which have required hospitalization. Dating back to the discovery of the first positive case in Ohio last week, DeWine has issued a number of orders, including the banning of mass gatherings of more than 50 people, the closure of bars, restaurants gyms, health centers and movie theaters, closing K-12 schools for at least three weeks and a restriction against elective surgeries for doctors, including dentists and veterinarians.
