GENEVA, Ohio — One of the area's most beloved fall attractions will not be open this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Saturday, Regal Vineyards owners Mark and Debbie Mihalik announced on their website and social media that their Haunted Winery and Corn Maze will not take place this year in Geneva by order of the Ashtabula County Health Department.

"This is a great disappointment to us as our corn maze is ready and COVID accomodations in place to greet our guests," the Mihaliks wrote on their website. "We were hoping to give our community a break for some safe outdoor fall fun, but will abide by the direction of our local officials."

Regal's theme for this year's corn maze dealt with unity, featuring a "United We Stand" map of the U.S. and a "People Helping People" heart.

"You may know that other events similiar to ours in other counties may be opened. We have been advised that each county has the authority to manage COVID restrictions within their own counties. We are disappointed and as you can see below this is the corn field and maze we planned special for our guests this year and we were ready to go," the Mihaliks added on their Facebook page.
