New ad campaign aims to educate public about COVID-19 vaccines

The public service ad campaign unveiled Thursday aims to convince Americans to get vaccinated against COVID-19, telling them “It's Up to You.”

CLEVELAND — Will you get the vaccine? If you’re not sure, you’re not alone.

New Ad Council/Ipsos research reveals that approximately 40% of the country is on the fence about whether to get vaccinated against COVID-19, and only 60% of the overall population feels confident they have enough information to guide their decision-making process. That figure drops dramatically to 40% in the Black and Hispanic communities.

The Ad Council & COVID Collaborative are aiming to bridge that gap with help from partnerships with major brands, media companies, faith leaders and other trusted messengers including the CDC and HHS. Thursday, they launched perhaps the largest public education campaign in U.S. history, a new COVID-19 Vaccine Education Initiative.

The new ad campaign, “It’s Up To You,” aims to connect people across the country with information about COVID-19 vaccines. The campaign reaffirms that while it is understandable to have questions, getting informed about COVID-19 vaccines is the first step to getting back to the moments and people we all miss.

Leading brands, media companies and social platforms are developing custom content and donating media to extend the “It’s Up to You” message, connecting their audiences with crucial and vetted information about the COVID-19 vaccines. Partners include Disney, Facebook/Instagram, NBCUniversal, iHeartMedia, Black Information Network, Google/YouTube, WarnerMedia, Fox, ViacomCBS, Twitter, Telemundo, Pandora, and Twitch.

The new campaign also relies on influencers and trusted messengers, including healthcare and medical professionals, influencers in the faith community, athletes, and celebrities.

They’ve also launched an informative website, available in seven languages. You can access it here: https://getvaccineanswers.org/
