Wade Oval Wednesday summer concert season suspended due to coronavirus concerns

The decision was reached amid ongoing COVID-19 concerns.

CLEVELAND — University Circle Inc. (UCI) has announced that their summer concert series "2020 WOW! Wade Oval Wednesday" has been suspended amid concerns of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The details and planning of an event at this scale left too many questions unanswered at this time as impending deadlines securing bands, vendors, supplies and permits approached.

"This is not a decision we reached lightly," said President of UCI, Chris Ronayne in a press release. "We know what this concert series means to the community. Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our concertgoers, vendors, and staff, who are like family."

UCI is exploring alternate options to connect the community throughout the summer. In the coming weeks, details will be provided about community efforts put together in partnership by The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning.

More information about UCI can be found on their website at www.universitycircle.org
