2 flu-related deaths reported in Cuyahoga County

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — Two people have died from flu-related circumstances in Cuyahoga County, according to the most recent report released by the Board of Health.

The two who died include a 47-year-old Lakewood man and a 73-year-old Olmsted Township man.

That brings the total of flu-related deaths in Cuyahoga County to eight for the 2019-2020 season.

There have also been more than 675 flu-related hospitalizations in Cuyahoga County in the last five weeks – two-thirds of which were identified as influenza A. Meanwhile, 2,100 people have visited the emergency department with flu-like symptoms.

Earlier this week, Lake County health officials announced the state’s second flu-related pediatric death of the season involving an 11-year-old child.

If you haven't done so yet, health officials say it's not too late to get a flu shot.
