If you're doing work around your home that involves a ladder, you're going to want to be extra careful.
According to the website Porch.com, the ladder is America's most dangerous tool. The site used data from the National Electronic Surveillance System to determine which tools were responsible for the most emergency room visits a year, and the study indicated ladders are responsible for nearly 200,000 alone.
Hardware (things like nails, screws, and tacs) caused the second-most injuries at 125,000, while lawnmowers and power saws came in third and fourth, respectively. Additionally, while Baby Boomers are the most likely generation to hurt themselves with tools, Millennials more often visit the emergency room.
Porch indicates the best way to avoid these types of injuries is to hire a professional, rather than do the job yourself.
