Ohio's medical marijuana sales top $1.8 million in first 2 months

Here's how the numbers are adding up.

Medical marijuana sales within Ohio have topped $1.8 million, according to the latest figures from the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program.

The program says the state's total sales hit $1,854,900 for a total volume of 245 pounds, as of Sunday. Through the end of February, 5,465 patients reported medical marijuana purchases. More than 22,000 patients have been recommended for medical marijuana and more than 19,000 have registered.

The first round of dispensaries opened about two months ago in Canton, Sandusky and Wintersville.

In their first day, the dispensaries sold 8.7 pounds of marijuana totaling $75,000 in sales.
