The city of Berea and the Veterans Outreach Office will mark 20 years since the 9/11 attacks with a memorial service at the Berea Triangle. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 9 a.m.
Organizers say 2,997 U.S. flags will surround the Triangle to honor those who lost their lives during the tragic events that occurred on 9/11.
There will also be silhouettes that represent the firefighters, police, Twin Towers, Pentagon, Flight 93 and Sirius, the K-9 officer that passed away when the Second Tower collapsed.
Members of the Berea community, such as police officers, firefighters, military members, veterans and civilians, will participate in the ceremony. Vader, Berea's K-9 officer, will also be present during the event.
Berea-Midpark High School Symphonic will lead the ceremony in music and conclude the program by playing “Taps.”
